declining my bid

by: Coastal

I'm a female PNM. I was thinking about declining my bid and trying again next year. But I'm being told that if you do that, you'll get cut next year. Is this true?

Yes! Take whatever bid you get! Give it a try! Your only shot at a bid next year will be alpha pi. Maybe ADPi depending on how well they do this year.

Alpha Phi will be the new sorority next year.

If you want to be a part of the greek system here you need to take it -your chances next year will be slim to none! Give the house that offers you a bid a chance, what have you got to lose? You can always drop out!

If you decline a bid, you will have the worst day of your life tomorrow! Everybody in the dorms will be happy and running around and getting gifts and having the time of their lives while you have to sit there and sulk. I would rather stick needle in my eyes than watch everybody else's dreams come true while I sat broken hearted. I promise if you go to your new home, you will have a blast, no matter what house (or tent) it is.

If you get a bid tomorrow, no matter which house it is, TAKE IT AND BE HAPPY. The chances of getting a bid second time rushing at Ole MIss are tiny. Do you want to miss out on an entire year of parties, formals, swaps, and activities? Do you really think that girls in ANY house on campus are miserable that they are not in a "top tier" house? NO THEY ARE NOT. They have fun and love their sisters.

Be happy with the sorority that chose you. There are some girls who were released and would love to have had a bid to your 2nd choice, or any house, for that matter.

If you were to not accept a bid to a fraternity you would have a better shot rushing again. Many don't even come close to quota each year.
