cuts

by: Rusheee

If I am a decent chapter legacy and have not been cut from that specific sorority yet what are my chances that I will/can be cut from now until bid day? I'm scared out of my mind.

Honestly a lot of legacies have been cut from top houses this year. It depends on the house and how the girls have ranked you. Chances are, if they invited you to skit round and you had a good conversation, you'll make it to pref round. Just be super friendly and make it obvious you want to be there.

Xo's value their legacies more than DG. KD and ddd really only consider in-house legacies.

Every house if different.

If you get asked back to a house it is because they like you. Legacy means very little to ole miss sororities.

How does cutting legacies help your house? It would seem to upset a lot of the legacy's parents. Upsetting them could have consequences... It would be understandable if there is a grade risk excuse, the parents can digest that one...

I have an active sibling and my mother is an active alumi in the house. My GPA is fine but hearing everyone say legacies don't matter and they are getting cut is what makes me so nervous!

it depends and no one can say for sure but hopefully your active sister will fight for you to be in her house

Im one of those parents who is upset and heartbroken. XO cut my daughter and Ive been very active in the alumni association and donations. Cutting a legacy is the worst thing to do just because she's OOS and not from Jackson, MS. My daughter was raised to be a XO from the day she was born and its heartbreaking to have your sorority cut her. There are consequences to cutting a legacy. The National Chapter loses support and donations and alumni chapters lose members and they are already struggling. I know that alot of you don't care but somewhere down the line you will be in my shoes.

...if you were an OM alum...the likelihood of your daughter pledging your chapter would be higher...the percentages of OOS pnms and legacies with no prior OM connection is putting huge pressure on the recruiting process...times have changed... not necessarily for the better...

Xo could fill 2 entire pledge classes with legacies. There simply isn't enough spots for them all. And you have to admit that there are some truly exceptional non-legacies that would benefit the house.

Cutting legacies is never easy, but we've been saying all along not to count on your legacy status to help you get a bid.

I hate hearing stories like this, but they happen all the time at Ole Miss. Unfortunately, Ole Miss has too many girls coming through, and most all of the chapters could fill up at least one pledge class with legacies, if not more. How is your daughter faring with invites back to other sororities? I bet she'll find a home, but I'm sorry for your heartbreak.

Chi O and Tridelt are known for cutting the most legacies because there are so many of them. Heck, they even cut in-state sister legacies if they don't want them. OOS legacies are already kind of behind the 8 ball before even going through recruitment.
