bids
by: helppleaseSo say when pref night roles around both of your houses you go to, you do not like what so ever. Do you suggest still signing the card? I'm just worried about being miserable and being stuck in a sorority I do not like. Would you rather being somewhere you don't prefer or not being greek?

I think that you should go with ahead and move forward. I am sure that you had your heart set on "xyz" but I firmly believe you end up where you should be. There will be many new girls in your pledge class and they will grow to be some of your best friends. You'll look back and realize that you ended up with a great group. Give it a chance!

Last year my roommate was so excited to open her bid card. But instead of getting her first choice, it was her second choice. She was crushed, fell to her knees right there in front of everyone and cried. Several of us tried to console her, but nothing helped. She does not have one single happy picture of her from bid day. She considered dropping, she considered transferring, she even thought about not being initiated, but now, a year later is obsessed with her sisters and agrees that everything happens for a reason.
No matter what house you end up in, remember there are girls being released from recruitment who would have given anything to have received a bid.

I would give it a chance if you don't receive your first choice. Do you really want to just go to class and go to your dorm room and not have a place to eat lunch, socialize, etc., with your new sorority? That would get pretty boring in a hurry. And yes, most girls who think they couldn't see themselves in certain sororities end up loving their chapter. You're just raw from rush right now, and understandably so. After a month or so, everything settles down and where you landed won't seem so important. It's only magnified in everyone's minds right now, due to the circumstances. Give it a shot.

This is good advice. If you have a choice, you should seize the opportunity. It's not fun to be on the outside looking in. Also, if you turn them down this year, you might not get another chance next year.
