legacy is stupid
by: .I'm a freshman in a sorority at an ACC school and I was considering Ole Miss during my college selection process. I'm from Raleigh, North Carolina, and even though my family is extremely wealthy, I have no sorority legacy connections, no ties to Mississippi in any way, and went to public school. The primary reason why I decided not to come here is because of how I've heard sororities do selections here. Like yes everyone says that tier doesn't matter and you'll be happy wherever you end up, but I think that picking someone based on their legacy status or where they're from makes no sense. Someone's mom could've been a KD here and her daughter who comes and gets a bid from KD due to her legacy status could be a terrible human being. I just think that legacy status and hometown shouldn't matter.

But wait....... maybe someone's mom went here and her daughter comes here and gets a bid NOT because of her legacy status, but maybe because she's better than you!!
Maybe she's not a terrible human being, but yikes.... maybe you are. Maybe legacy status and hometown shouldn't matter--- and maybe they don't. We will never know for sure, but what we do know based on your OP - you are bitter and insecure.
I assure you if you or anyone else has a better reputation, resume, grades, and potential than a legacy - you will be considered and given a bid. Face your own truth and quit trying to place blame.
Don't be a bitter hater, it's simply just not attractive.
#7 by: Why is this an issue
I'm OOS and I can't imagine basing my college decision on something as inconsequential as sorority recruitment. I like my sorority, I've met people and made friends, but when I graduate I will be concentrating on my career. I guess if I was planning to move to a small area like Jackson, MS and needed to use my sorority involvement for some kind of social relevance maybe it would be an issue.
