It is the cultural Mecca of the free world. Nothing else compares.

Why do you all feel the need to tear down others/a certain place? It does not make you look very good. It's like you feel threatened by Jackson, MS people? Just saying.

It’s literally just because it’s less of a risk to take people you know. If you know their family and their character you have a pretty good idea of how they’ll act when they get here and there’s a constant supply of people coming in from Jackson every year. It’s not that you’re from Jackson, it’s that the other people here know who you are and that you have credentials.

You have to remember that Ole Miss is in Mississippi. So of course Jackson is going to be an important place to be from because a bunch of old, "ms rich" alum families live there. Jackson is dying and not a lot of people are moving back, so in the future it probably won't carry as much weight with sororities as it does now.

Because it's like getting into any "top" place - Harvard MBA's get the best spots on Wall Street, grads from certain law schools get the best shot at certain law firms....all because they "know" each other via the credibility that comes from being at the same school. No different with rush.

I don't know why people can't figure this out - every year there are PNM's and their moms from everywhere, but particularly OOS (especially way OOS, so they know no-one at Ole Miss) who get upset by not making top tier when the rationale - maybe not fair - is simple.

Life's not fair. If it were, then the top tier houses would only have girls with top resumes, etc., etc. Same with many companies/fields - much of it is about who you know.
