everyone chill it’s ok
by: hard truthUnderperforming chapters close every year at campuses across the nation. It’s a financial decision made by nationals. Theta didn’t have the numbers to be financially sustainable despite repeated efforts by nationals to help them. It’s not unique to Ole Miss that a chapter has to close. Almost EVERY school in the nation has had a chapter close for this reason. It’s sad for theta but it’s gonna be ok.

A campus the size of Ole Miss needs more sororities, they don't need to be running off any. The reason we are losing Theta is because of a toxic Greek Life environment on this campus. Greek Life coordinators and Panhellenic have not done enough to get this under control.

You are acting like this situation is unique to Ole Miss when it’s not. A chapter being closed for not meeting quota and therefore financially a strain on nationals happens all the time. You don’t pay your bills you get shut down. Nationals couldn’t keep funding them forever.

Women would've joined Theta if the tent talk and mean-spiritedness for the smaller chapter of the NPC was stopped by those that are in charge. Chapters do close due to low membership every single year, but on a campus with such a large Greek community, there is obviously a culture issue. A new NPC group will take Theta's place, and we can only hope they don't get the same treatment.

A lot of colleges are seeing a decline in Greek life in general which is affecting their recruitment. Ole Miss has a strong Greek life system. We are losing Theta because of the toxic environment toward Theta on this campus. Once we lose Theta someone else will take their place and we will probably run that one off also. The long term affect will be to damage Ole Miss Greek Life instead of building it up.
