place me

Likely coming to Ole Miss next year. Place me, please?
Far OOS (North), no active local connections, wealthy family, drive a RR, 4.+ GPA at a private school, athlete, competitive dancer, lots of philanthropic contributions, legacy to 3 groups on campus, attractive dark blonde, international traveler.
(One rec will come from an Ole Miss graduate, but she lives up north now, also.)

Don’t listen to the bitter bunch. I am OOS and only had 3-4 connections , not legacy and I am extremely happy with my
upper mid tier house and my friend group. It didn’t happen overnight and it takes work/putting yourself out there.
The girls that choose to be unhappy here would most likely be unhappy anywhere. 75% of my friend group is OOS and they too love Ole Miss. Is it perfect? Of course not but neither is anywhere else. There is no one lower on my mind than someone that constantly bashed their school. Just GTFO if you don’t like it.

I agree with "Truth" - don't listen to the bitter posters. However, I think there is a valid point to make - and I make it sincerely: many OOS/OOR very well-resumed girls come to Ole Miss with no connections and because of their great resumes/etc, they think they'll get into a top tier house; then they are very surprised when they get released due to no connections, especially because had they gone to school at home, they might have made top tier. All the honors, money, travel, etc. that you wrote about doesn't really matter since top tier is about connections. There are a few exceptions every year, but I'm just trying to let you know how it works here.
As for being a legacy - that doesn't count for much due to how competitive rush here is; there are so many legacies you could fill an entire pledge class. The good news is that you'll get the courtesy invitation to the 2nd round as a legacy and I encourage you to make the most of that.
If you're open to every house, you will find a home. Every chapter has great girls, so if you can put tiers aside you'll do fine. And even if you had connections in various houses, I'd still encourage you to be open to every house. You just never know where you might find your home!

Honestly, my paternal grandparents are Ole Miss alumni. One from the Memphis area, one from the Oxford area. They met there. Fell in love there. Both were in Greek Life. They got married and Granddad went to law school up in New York, then settled in Pennsylvania. We've grown up with my Daddy's side always loving Ole Miss, even though we live in Pennsylvania. (Mom went to Penn State, Dad went to Drexel for undergrad. I have zero desire to go to either).
I'll be applying to other schools as well. (None in Florida, hard pass). I do not want to stay in the Northeast. However, I think it'll be hard to take the Rebel love I grew up with and try to convert it.

hey mommies! You do know bitsy is a troll who just wanted to see how fast it took you to get on here and proclaim your house is top and if you’re not miss rich you can settle for middle tier. Its so obvious except y’all are so self absorbed you couldn’t pass up the chance to once again assert your miss dominance in your sad little world. Trolls -1 Mommies - 0

I agree this is obviously a troll post. I don’t feel bad for everyone who jumped on here to point out “bitsy” would never be able to go a top house but could be happy in a middle or lower tier due to OOS status. They are obviously so wrapped up in their obsession to rank their house and be proud of their miss exclusivity they don’t realize (or maybe don’t care) they’re being played.

I had a similar resume as you minus any legacy connections. I actually found my home at Theta, but I know that a lot of far OOS girls with strong resumes go Kappa as well. Honestly, the best advice I can give is to just keep an open mind throughout recruitment and think about who you click with the most. It shouldn't be about how wealthy your family is or how attractive you might be, it should be about where you find your people :)

Aahhh the Florida Troll, always lurking, things must be boring in the Sunshine State.
The reason OOS is consider normal in Florida is because the entire state is OOS Yankees who, after destroying their state, decided to move south and start destroying others.
