how many girls are leaving?

by: Lilreb

I’ve seen two uhauls and another girls parents moved her out w a truck... out of Crosby. Obviously rushing late doesn’t stop them from leaving so why not do it at the beginning of the year? It would be a lot less stressful.

I know of one girl that’s going to UNC. She hated it here and thought she might like it better after rush and in a house but it didn’t go well last week

It's not the oos girls that move out because of their rush, it's the mississippi girls.

UNC is an excellent school and I hope she will be happy there. If she's going because she plans to rush there, I wish her the best but she may not find it very different. Chapel Hill's recruitment is competitive. I will also say their rush was earlier this year, which means she'll rush as a transfer and that is not something I wish on any girl.

I rushed as a sophomore transfer and I received a bid to the top house on my campus. Ignore whatever that person is saying. You are at no disadvantage if you rush as a sophomore transfer. You're only at a disadvantage if your college GPA is super low.

Depends on if you take advantage of your time as a transfer and build up strong bonds with girls in chapters before you rush, or you’re transferring back home and already know people. If you transfer to a school with really competitive rush and don’t put in the effort to make connections, you won’t have as many options.

my rush was very competitive about as competitive as UNC. I'm OOS, didn't know anyone, didn't know anyone in any of the houses, and im not a chapter legacy. But I still received from the top house at my school. I had a college GPA of 3.70. It is very possible to do well in rush as a transfer student. I wouldn't sweet over it.

Calling bs in this one. If she got into to UNC she would be there and never would have come here to begin with

I disagree. I have friends who choose Alabama and Ole Miss over UNC. I have another friend who chose Ole Miss over Cornell. Some people want a huge greek life at their university. Ole Miss and Alabama's greek life is sooo much bigger than UNC greek life.

I don't know Mom, don't you know? You seem to be right there watching Crosby, so you tell us.

Well, if she really is going to UNC to rush, she will have to wait till next year and rush as a sophomore. UNC rush was before Ole Miss.

I highly doubt she is going to UNC, yet. She would have to apply for Fall 2019 transfer admission and withdrawing from Ole Miss is going to make that even more doubtful. UNC will frown on the withdrawal. There are plenty of OOS girls (mostly southern) in top tier/mid-tier sororities. UNC is also difficult for top tier to OOS students unless they have connections. Greek life just isn't as big at UNC as it is at Ole Miss. But the educational difference is vast between UNC and Ole Miss and students pretty much have to be married to their studies as it is hard to stay in at UNC. IF you have any sense, Ole Miss is competitive for Greek Life and you should have prepared with recs etc.

Not to mention UNC has very selective admissions. Just because she applies doesn't mean she'll get in.

If you chose your college or leave your college based on your Greek life or lack of Greek life I feel very sorry for you. It is pathetic and incredibly narrow minded. You are here to get a degree to enable you to be employeed after graduation. Having a great Greek life experience is a bonus but should never be the reason you chose a university of leave a university. Mom you are doing your daughter a tremendous disservice if you enable and support this behavior.
