sophomore rushing????

by: help me plz

Im a soph and I'm going through fall recruitment this year. I went through recruitment last year and chose to drop during rounds for personal reasons. I have 2 rec letters for almost every house (except for the ones i had a terrible experience at during rush last year) and im in the "green zone" for grades.... I guess my question is this: are my options going to be extremely limited because I am a sophomore? which houses definitely WONT take sophomores?

what are personal reasons?

i've heard family reasons...if a loved one is sick and you transfer to a local school to be closer to them. not sure what personal reasons mean...

i wouldn't say "extremely" limited. but certainly limited. obviously the lower houses and houses that take in a lot and had a lot of drops are going to be houses interested.

technically no house cuts based on class (fresh, soph etc), but you'll be cut for other reasons (non-legacy, no ties, etc). hopefully you met some girls and made good friends over the past year

regardless if your goal is just to get into a house I still think you have a good shot. if you have a certain house you want in then the odds will be against you

Houses who dropped you last year will drop you again this year, unless you made some kind of amazing transformation and/or picked up fifteen or so best friends in one of those houses. But you already said you didn't get recs for certain houses where you had some kind of "terrible experience" last year, I guess that means they dropped you, so those house are completely out no matter what. Whatever houses you were left with last year before you dropped out are going to be the ones you get back for second round. Make it work this time.

i had terrible experiences there because the girls who i talked to were rude and the first question i was asked was " what does your dad do? does he make a lot of money?" i didnt get cut from that house anyway, i had it throughout rush until i dropped. so how about instead of acting like i chose to not make it work, be supportive since thats what sisterhood is supposed to be about.

Just wondering how early you dropped. I’d be ready with a compelling reason why you dropped. Good luck. Please try not to be bitter or a hothead in person during rush. You may get annoyed by repetitive questions that might initially assume you dropp for other common reasons like not liking houses you had left. It will be important to handle that in a polite sincere way. I mean ‘this kindly. I'd like to gently point out you came here for advice, which it seems commenters are trying to offer. We don’t know the whole story so please accept that advice in the spirit it was offered.

The GPA advice (green-yellow-red zone) applies to high school grades. You will definitely need over a 3.0 in your college GPA to get a bid. High school grades do not latter once you have college GPA.

Don't most sororities want over a 3.0 for freshman rushing, too?

Are you seriously saying that you were asked "how much money does your dad make?" as the first or second question by a stranger in a sorority house? I'm not buying that.
