advisors vs actives
by: RebsWhat sororities do the advisors have as much or more voting power in which girls get in ? I️ heard Tri Delt , Chi O , KD , DG that the advisors have the last say on who gets in . Is this true ?

I️ wanted to know because I️ heard that no matter how many girls meet you and like the advisors have the last say in Tri Delt , Chi O , DG, KD , and maybe Kappa. I️ also heard that alumni are better off. Calling advisors to help girls with the rush is now. Is this true ?

Subtitle, yet another attempt by DG to classify themselves with the top tier.
For those interested, not ranking, usually the sorority age determines how much the alumni influence the pnm class. The older the house, the more the alumni have a say so.
Chio is by far the most alumni based picks. DDD is second. KD is probably third but compared to the first two KD and the rest's alumni have little say so.

I'm in one of the houses listed and while the advisors for sure do have a say, they don't make the final decision. They are there along the way to help and they strongly give their input, but at the end of the day it is our rush team that makes the final decisions. The advisors usually get their girls in by being super overbearing and annoying rush team about the girls they want. Honestly, you want at least some advisor input, because they often get info on PNMs that the rush team doesn't, including both horrible reputations and stellar under-the-radar girls.
I wouldn't worry about this....it will really only affect you if you are on rush team or like president. While normal members get to vote and stuff, they don't have much say other than that. Each house seems to get a stellar pledge class whether they have tons of advisor input or not.

Post 1: Oligarchy or Republic: Your Choice.
It’s Recrutment Time: The long nails are out.
Is the poster posing a supporter of House X and an Oligarch in order to undermine House X?
Why drag House Y and Z into this?
Why would poster do this?
Who would benefit?
Is this an attempt to undermine Greek Women?
Will We Succumb to this line of Stupidity?

Please feel free to chime in if these aren't the case for your house, but I feel like these are pretty solid across the board.
1. All membership selection is a secret. No one who actually cares about their chapter will divulge that information to someone not in their chapter.
2. All chapters select members differently. For some chapters, it is part of their ritual. I could say "my chapter picks PNM names out of a hat and unless we get 25 'no' votes, she moves on to the next round" and it wouldn't make a difference since everyone on here is anonymous so there's no way to verify if what I'm saying is true. So even if someone on here says "I'm not an XYZ but XYZ is an amazing chapter and they don't let their alums have any say in MS" - why would you believe them? If they're not really an XYZ, they wouldn't know the truth anyway.
3. Alumni advisors in all houses help with recruitment. To what degree is different between chapters. However, I think it's fair to say that no one person can make or break a PNM's recruitment. No one active can guarantee you a bid even if you were BFFs and next door neighbors for 18 years and she pinky promised you a bid. The alumni advisor may have more "sway" if they know more information about a PNM that could cause them to get released, like their GPA.
4. Most actives will never know where PNMs rank on their lists or what their scores or GPAs are, because if that bottom-ranked girl on your pref list comes to the house on bid day, would you want the entire chapter to know where they ranked? If a chapter member loves a PNM and scores her well but she doesn't come back the next day, it could be because she was a GPA cut or she had a QR the active didn't know about, but that's why you're supposed to trust that your sisters are keeping the best interest of the chapter in mind when they vote.
5. Knowing any specific information about how a chapter selects PNMs or their level of alumni involvement will not help you in recruitment. You don't pick your chapter, they pick you, and you learn how they do it when you're initiated. if at that point you don't like how it's done, feel free to drop or transfer to a chapter where it's different, but there's no guarantees it will be.

why not worry about this? what if I want to join a sorority where the actual ole miss students have the say in membership selection and where there would be leadership opportunities for me instead of those people vetted/selected/whatever you want to call it, by advisors?
