swap parties
by: pc18I want to rush ,but my boyfriend doesn’t really want me attending swap parties. Is it mandatory that I attend them? I will be involved in everything else.

Why would you want to pay so much money to join a sorority and then not participate in one of the most fun things you can do your first year? Swaps are a great chance to bond with your new member class. Swaps don't mean you have to hook up. Doesn't he trust you? It doesn't sound like it so why do you have to do what he says? You would be seriously missing out if you let a boyfriend tell you what to do. You are not married or engaged and so have every right to have the full sorority experience you are paying for. If he is this insecure, jealous and controlling now, and doesn't trust you or y'alls relationship, then it will only get worse. Go to college, join a sorority, do what you want and he will just have to trust you to do the right thing or he isn't what you want to be stuck with.

sounds like there are some major trust issues here so I suggest either work it out or tell him boy bye !!! joining a sorority is a great chance to make life long friends (girls AND boys) and if you’re not “allowed” to participate in the social aspect of it then you’re missing out on some of the best parts. seriously. girl power !!!

Controlling boyfriends usually aren't just emotionally controlling/abusive, but often they become physically abuse. Saw it happen with a high school friend. You do NOT want to go down that path - after all, if he's controlling what you can do right now, think about how much worse it will get down the road.
Get out now! Focus on making new friends and creating great new experiences.

I don't really want you to go to swaps easily becomes I don't want you to go out to any parties which becomes I don't like that group of friends which becomes I don't like your family which becomes you in far too deep with a controlling and insecure boyfriend.
Move on now.
Also, take a good hard look in the mirror. You shouldnt even be considering the "request." You deserve better.
