Every house will provide a range of expenses. It's not an exact number because it depends on stuff like gifts, shirts, outfits/costumes, community service fees, badge, formal and other things on top of house dues and meals. The low end is around $1600 per semester assuming you don't live in the house, and the average is around $2200 which isn't too bad.

I agree dues are not the same as extras like shirts, presents or formal, dues are the costs of keeping the house running. But the extras can sure add up! An extra grand or two every semester, it's not loose change between the sofa cushions!
