chances of getting a bid

by: Kellz

I'm not a legacy to any sorority and know very few girls at in the sororities at ole miss, but I want to be in one so bad! I feel as though I'd be the perfect fit for any one. Wondering what my chances are of even getting in one knowing that recruitment is so competitive there. Also I'd be formally rushing this upcoming school year

I agree with the poster above. Forget the tiers - there are great girls in every single house. Be respectful, have fun and go to every party like it's the house you want. If you rank both houses after pref, you will get a bid. Accept the bid you get - even if you're not sure about the house - and go find your sisters. Might take time to feel like you fit in, it takes work, but plenty of us have done it.

One other tip I think helps given how competitive it is this: you need to be memorable so that girls in a house push for you to come back. By that I mean be someone who can carry a good conversation, has fun, knows how to ask good questions (don't talk non-stop) and be confident. If you're fun, engaging and find girls in the house to really connect with, you'll find a home. I've known girls from far OOS with no connections and they did just fine.

I don't get it, how do you remember so many of us??? I feel like I'm going to be lost in the crowd.

Because it's our job to remember you. We have been doing this for generations and we have got our processes down pat, so don't worry about it. You worry about you. You will certainly get lost in the crowd if you don't get your resume and forms etc into us in good time and don't get your recs, and if you don't bring your A Game to each and every house, every day.

Good advice from "remember". Also get recs in because even if you have no connection to girls here, it shows that you're putting every effort into rush.

And think of it this way: Ever go to an event with lots of people and you meet someone - just that one time - that you remember later? You have good feelings when you remember meeting them? It's because you really connected with that person. It's the same in rush.

We're good at knowing who we're connecting with - and you'll only be able to do your best if you stop worrying. You'll be fine if you relax and have fun.
