serious question

by: curious

since ranking is a big thing on here what could a house do to improve and make its way up? i’ve aleays wondered this especially at a school like ole miss where top houses don’t necessarily mean the prettiest, smartest, well rounded ( not that they are, they are but there’s some that bypass them in my opinion) but instead houses with the most local girls or girls with connections and that’s it.

I'll answer your question since "my view" only took the opportunity to take cheap shots at ΧΟ and ΔΔΔ.

To improve and stay on top you must have the top return rates for rush and top retention rates. Sorority needs to have high GPA (look at the end of semester grades...."top tier" sororities are usually ranked 1-5) A sorority needs to have attractive and social girls.

Here is where I'm going to get hate mail but it is so obvious that the bashing against in-state is laughable. You are going to need IN State girls. In state high schools will send you a steady stream of girls year after year. Yes, you can the the best recruit out of Indiana (or wherever) but how many from Indiana XYZ highschool will come next year?

Look at Alabama....best sororities are full of local girls...Texas with Texas girls....so on and so on.

Yes, you will need well rounded girls. Girls in Student Government, Pageants, Studious and Party girls.

Most of all Girls that love their chapter and are willing to improve it and recruit members quality members.

Agree.

Not sure why the girls (OOS/OOR) who complain about this don't realize that their own state universities do the same thing as here at OM. Univ of Colorado? Top Denver/etc. girls. Univ. Kansas? Top girls from Kansas City. Same for LSU, Georgia, etc.

Not sure why, but it seems to get forgotten.

Good lord, you in-state girls just keep saying the same things over and over. We get it, you want to keep your high school buds together. Nothing wrong with that. The OP asked how to improve the lower tiers and someone stated their opinion which apparently stepped on your feelings. The tiers are really just subjective. There's great girls in all the sororities. None are really better than the others. The top tiers do tend to be the Mississippi/legacy sororities and the lower tiers tend to be dominated by the OOS/OOR girls and as far as resumes they probably are all similar.

So stating the facts is a cheap shot?

It's not a fact. It is a cheap shot and you know it. She did not answer the question of the op but put down two sororities in the process.

@OOS Your comment is classic. "In state girls say the same thing over and over" Pot calling the kettle black?

My toes did not get stepped on as I am not a XO or Tri-Delt. "My View" did state an opinion which did not answer the ops question but instead took a jab at two sororities in the process.\n\n\n\n\n

Not sensitive just really tired of oos whining. Almost as bad as the mothers that comment on here. Bet you are one in the same.....so negative.

No problem. This site should be reserved for in-state whining only, and the endless top tier rankings. We must not deny the Moms their only apparent outlet.

I think it is a branding problem. People hear low tier and think "bad." And that's simply not true.

The tiers don't change. Need proof? Go back to the first pages of Greek rank and see for yourself. Same quibbling about the same stuff. Just ADPi and APhi weren't here yet.

Want even more proof? Talk to people who were at OM decades and decades ago - the houses still rank the same.
