shea sucked. was a 18 year old sophomore in high school playing against 15-16 year old actual sophomores when rankings came out...no wonder it's easy to look like the #1 QB. But who cares about him, he was going to have his job taken from him from a community college transfer from new mexico.
jackson/memphis players have money? LOL no.
there are some "Walkons" who never see the field but the football team has them just so their daddy can donate money. no they aren't from jackson/memphis. I am talking actual money, not mississippi rich. Google Billy Busch

There isn't old money in mississippi.
Yes, Mississippi was the second richest state before the civil war (SC was 1st), but after the civil war the south suffered so did mississippi and neither went back.
Yes some people have big houses because it's an investment but drive cheap cars. But there is a reason why those families you know have big houses and drive cheap cars...the houses are hand me downs.
I am from Birmingham, and there is a town here called mountain brook and it's old money. Most houses are worth $1M plus, but they were built 60-80 years ago. Birmingham was known from Steel/Iron and was rich in the early 1900s. Those people in that industry then made a ton of money. The way it goes is when the grandparents die, their kids move in the big house in their 60s, then they die and their kids move in, etc. Seriously they make 30-40k a year, just have a big $1-2M hand me down house.
Same thing with Belle Meade in Nashville. It's old money and hand me down houses. When houses go for sale there it's so over priced most people don't touch it. Birmingham doesn't have famous or super rich people but Nashville does and those people even though they can afford the Belle Meade/Mountain Brook they don't buy houses there because they know its over priced
there isn't old money in mississippi. madison, ms (probably the richest part of the state) is fairly new. yes there are a few old big houses around the state, but it's very few and far between. With Belle Meade/Mountain Brook you can drive for 10-15mins and see all million dollar homes, you can't do that any where in this state

One distinction that needs to be made about "MS rich" is that it is old money and just that, unearned handed down money whereas the "OOS rich" is new (or newer) money, and those families don't just have capital and equity; they have power. People here might look down their noses at the heiress of a New York media empire, for example, but that one family has access to real global networks of influential people and wealth. Like, MS rich is nothing compared to the real affluent coming from finance, tech, media, law/politics, pharma etc. I'm not advocating for any of that globalist stuff, just saying it's weird how the wealth and power of Mississippians are so limited and confined to the borders of this state.

One of the Busch heirs is currently a DG. Another DG is the daughter of a high level executive of a major multimedia firm in NYC. There is a DDD who is a famous country music singer's daughter. I'm sure there are many more examples. The point is that the really wealthy kids are from out of state. "Mississippi rich" is small potatoes.
