From what I’ve seen around campus it seems like pi phi, dg, and theta have the best sisterhood

^^
I have heard for a while now that Theta is very close and has a great camaraderie. And no, I'm not a Theta. I do think the quality of sisterhood should matter to PNMs. Lots of what I see in greek life leaves a lot to be desired.

Pi phi definitely has the most genuine girls. They don't pay too much attention to rankings and what not

Pi Phi has been posting more frequently on Greekrank lately, so they must pay some attention to rankings.

No one can judge or rank the sisterhood of each sorority. You can only measure the sisterhood of your own and guess how the others are.

Just because a sorority is top tier doesn't mean the girls are snobby, superficial, and mean.

Just because a sorority is bottom tier doesn't mean the girls are more genuine or noble or sisterly than girls in top houses.

So just for fun and reflection I made a list of the positive and funny things I found about each sorority in my time here (I am Greek, but it doesn't matter which chapter)... and my interpretations are honest, silly, but are a positive insight to each chapter. I'm afraid to post it on the general page bc, OPs and general bashing if someone's sorority isn't on a silver platter and the writer has taken off her rose-tinted glasses, but I would have liked to have known these things before going through rush, especially pertaining to sisterhood. I can post it here if you like?

they are kind of long so I will do one post per ever 2 chapters alphabetically... here goes:

Ole Miss Sororities:
All of the sororities at this school are fantastic, and if you are looking for ranks, you won’t find them here. These are general perceptions, stereotypes, and different personalities of the chapters. This is entirely subjective. They are also generalizations by nature and the descriptions do not apply to every member of every chapter, of course. Just an overall impression. Please be kind! When I say “XYZ girls are …” it is not a fact, but an observation. Some of these also might come off as criticisms, but I hope no one takes it too seriously.

Alpha Delta Pi: It is hard to tell if a girl is ADPi, as in there is not a stereotype about her style or personality. This sorority is fairly new and has a great variety of girls. A number of them are ambitious and you can find many of them involved in campus extracurriculars. They have sporty girls, beauty queens, country girls, blue bloods, legacies, and leaders. They are off to a great start, have a beautiful house, girls from all over, and a great national network. Some boys view them as the upstanding type and are drawn to that, others see a party type and are there for that. Because they have inducted so many new members so quickly, it has been hard for them to solidify an identity, but the girls are what counts. Most of them are A+ and are very committed individuals: both passionate and fun. It’s really a mixed bag, but a good and varied one! The have super fun traditions and tend to be good at a lot of different things. They are accepting and had a great rush. They also have excellent leadership, some of the best in Greek life. Some claim that it is a party sorority, but it depends on who you ask. They are getting better and better each day, and the girls work hard and play hard. She shines like a diamond!

Alpha Omicron Pi: Just an interesting observation, a lot of these girls have a “lob” (long bob) hairstyle. These girls are typically in the honors college and are committed to academics. They tend to be more of the type to tutor you, and tend to be super fresh and clean. This sorority has a reputation as the low-key sweet girls. Their leadership is not intimidating and tends to be lenient as well. Their house is not as “grand” as some to the others, but it is incredibly homey and cozy. (I personally love their house). I would certainly say they are a refreshing, humble group of ladies. If you tell someone that you are AOII they will probably have a solid view of you based on that alone, and would probably view you as trustworthy off the bat. Boys see them as the nice girls they can study and joke with. Incredibly wholesome. They have a variety of beautiful, stunning girls and just regular, normal ones, but tend to be very natural and don’t go heavy on the makeup. Many of these girls are from out of state (OOS) and have a special place at Ole Miss. They make the best of friends.

Kappa Alpha Theta: Essentially the Hufflepuffs of the Ole Miss Greek scene, Theta is comprised of a bunch of really nice girls who often go unnoticed or uncelebrated (and their colors are essentially the same as their counterpart Hogwarts house). These girls typically stay out of trouble and mind themselves. Theta girls are very pleasant and are driven to succeed. These young women are so caring and want to make sure everyone is included. They are said to have a great sisterhood, and are known to be loyal, quality, dependable pals when it counts. They also host Theta Encore, a favorite event of most of campus. They have some really smart girls who are definitely going places, and they place a lot of emphasis on helping a sister out. They aren’t the girls who will typically be begging to be the center of attention, but I would say that can be a good thing. Laying low lets people see them as people rather than just a pretty girl wearing letters. Even if some new members are hesitant, theta works some kind of magic and has been fully embraced, and the girls are definitely looking up. Their entire philosophy as a chapter seems to defy cemented labels about sorority girls, which is extremely cool. If a guy is into a theta girl, you can trust that he’s probably a very quality dude, as he chose a very quality young lady.

Kappa Delta: I can’t imagine any girl being remotely disappointed at receiving a bid from KD. They are such a well-rounded house and have a reputation for kindness. Essentially, they are the “perfect” sorority on campus. They are also the largest, so it’s not uncommon to see about a dozen KDs on one’s way to class. These girls tend to be slim, have long pretty hair, and are completely natural. As said before, they are incredibly kind, loving, and helpful. They are certainly not lazy, and KD really has it all at Ole Miss. They are super cute, and tend to live in Hooper Hollow after freshman year (along with a number of tri delts, +they are next door neighbors on campus). The closest to the Honors college, next door on the other side, many of these girls boast academic excellence in their grades, but tend to portray themselves as humble and carefree, even though everyone knows they are most likely very smart. It’s very hard to hate a sorority with as much heart as KD. Kind of the creme de la creme in terms of quality: both classy and classic. They’ve also got an adorable sense of enthusiasm, and date very nice young men in general. Some guys might consider KD girls out of their league.

Kappa Kappa Gamma: Many of these girls are extremely charismatic. There is the stereotype that they are the “blonde” sorority, but that is not a comment on their intelligence, a lot of them simply happen to have blonde hair. It’s good be to friends with at least one of these girls because they have such awesome opportunities, and are definitely go-getters and world travelers. Being in their house gives off the vibe of a fun sleepover all the time, and the building itself is charming. Kappa girls are fun-loving and incredibly involved on campus. They’re the types that look like they could have all been cheerleaders at some point, or even look like a cheer squad as a chapter, but they’re vibe is definitely way too chill for this to be confirmed. They have great relations with fraternities. They also have super cute “kappa-cinos” for their caffeine intake, and are generally very cool people. They are well respected in the Greek scene, and although they are on the Row, they’re House is kind of separate (right next to Crosby), so it feels special walking up to it. These young ladies are definitely put together, but will let loose from time to time - a great house! Their sisterhood is unique and tight-knit because of their off campus new member retreat and their great sister relations.

Phi Mu: Also a mixed bag. This certainly is not everyone, but a stereotypical Phi Mu will be found at the hair salon, nail salon, or getting a spray tan. They also have some super natural girls, but they aren’t afraid to get dolled up. These girls have rosy cheeks, are extremely passionate about everything they do, and their house also has great interior design. They also have a new sophomore village many girls will opt to live in since their house can’t accommodate everyone. Some call them “pageant girls” (fun fact, moms in the mid 20th c would send their daughters to Ole Miss so they could be Ms. America), and phi mu represents this culture and living tradition. They are more like Southern belles, and can be called “sweet” for sure. Think Elle Woods. These girls have close friendships both inside and outside the sorority. I applaud those who get their hand sign right in the first try - it kinda looks like a pretzel. Phi mu is very well established on campus, and every student has certainly passed by the iconic quatrefoil Phi Mu fountain (if not taken a dip in it!) these girls are pretty in pink and have tons of positive energy. They really want people to feel welcome. They also have a phenomenal philanthropy and have won so many hearts.

Pi Beta Phi: These girls know how to work hard, but they definitely know how to have fun as well. They are possibly the “realest” and most genuine girls in the Greek scene and don’t really try too hard to build a reputation, as they already have a solid one. They have great events and they get along well with boys, often in a close-friend sister type way. They also have Pi Phi cookies all the time, which I’m sure other houses are jealous of. Their house is unique and kind of New Orleans style, and is one of my favorites. They definitely have some positive quirks that make them distinct (off campus philanthropy events, unique bid day jerseys...which I personally love, a totally different style house, etc) These girls are so special and provide a much-needed presence of real girls to the scene. Many of them are known to be very smart as well. They have a great attitude and are super chill. They genuinely listen to you and care about what you have to say, and most of them are memorable gals because they shine so bright. This one is also kind of pegged a “party sorority” but this again, doesn’t really mean much. These girls actually glow like the angels they are. They are so aware and thoughtful in general about just about everything. \n\n\n\n\nAn that's pretty much it! Again, these are my opinions, but it's hard to get a good idea of the sororities before and during recruitment because they all regrettably have to uphold a certain persona. I hope this helps, and best of luck for when you rush! Don't take these observations too seriously, most of them are silly observations. :)

I love them, too. As an older member I have met women from each of these groups and will say these descriptions are spot on and non-interchangeable.
