literally just come here and see for yourself. I thought I was going to like one sorority best, but ended up preffing a “lower tier” bc that’s what I liked better. If you just want to go by tiers, by all means don’t come here!!!

There is no way you are going to get an accurate answer on here. This site is just for Moms who like to continue the tier battles. They’re all 40ish year old crazy means girls with WAY to much time on their hands. You’ll find out for yourself when you get here, no need for this site.

Stop thinking about rank and go with the house you feel comfortable with!! So many freshman get caught up in this and set themselves up for disappointment.

Yes to Jen! Please don't get caught up in other people's gossip when it has the potential to ruin your freshman experience. This stuff is entirely subjective. A house you love I might not enjoy as much, and so on. That is how "ranking" occurs - it's one person's opinion and you may not agree with that opinion. Be true to your individual self and you'll be set up to have a good experience. I made rush miserable by being judgmental and petty. I really regret it because once I thought that way it was a hard habit to break. You have lots of fun freshman experiences to look forward to!

first thing first, if you are from state you know the ranks.

second, if you are not from state, do not come here. i'm not trying to sound rude or unwelcoming, but without a legacy status and being from one of the few high schools that have connections here, you'll be digging yourself out of a huge hole.

yes few out of states like it, even some love it, but for the majority, they don't like it here.

I came here not having any connections and not knowing ANYONE. It’s a little hard seeing people come here already knowing people from their high school and it always seems like they’re getting things a little easier (sorority they want, dates to formals, etc). It took me a while to find my place here but I’m so glad I came here instead of following all my friends to college back home. Coming here not knowing anyone has been a blessing and has really made me come out of my shell and has absolutely FORCED me to develop people skills in order to make friends. Don’t write Ole Miss completely off if you’re OOS, you’ll have to work to make college what you want it but in the long run I think it’s worth it. (I’m also in a heavy-OOS sorority and it’s amazing. If you’re not a deep rooted MS legacy you won’t care if you don’t end up top tier.)

The experience you have coming here coming from OOS is what you make it. I came here from OOS knowing no one and ended up in a traditionally MS sorority. Nothing is out of the question, you just have to step out of your comfort zone a little more than you’re probably used to. Yeah there are definitely people who come here and don’t like it and don’t like where they’ve ended up here, but again any experience here or anywhere for that matter is what YOU make it to be!!
