Grades matter and they are an easy cut to make (although every house does it differently and has their own exceptions and gpa limits.

But the only people girls are going to go out on a limb for when it comes to grades are going to be girls that they really know. Not girls that they notice going out before recruitment.

Assuming you are a senior in high school the best thing you can do is work this year to boost your overall GPA and there's still time to do that.

Most of recruitment is who you know and grades.
If you have tons of connections and below 3.0 you are okay. My roommate had a 2.6 and still bid kkg because she had tons of connections.
If you don't have connections or grades don't come.

Get out there and meet people, that's my best advice for a successful recruitment people will help you out if they like you regardless of grades

Grades are important to every sorority, however there are plenty of girls who go through recruitment with less than a 3.0 average. Connections will play as big (if not bigger) influence than GPA. If you are a Senior you should really be working on improving your GPA while you can.

Yes but the connections have to be pretty major because the person has to be very willing to fight for you against a lot of people who will want you cut for grades. You need to stand out in other ways.

How can anyone not think grades are important? No, if your GPA sucks AND you are partying a lot to "get noticed" in hopes of making those connections, your Frosh GPA is going to suck, too. Be aware that your potential sorority sisters will notice when you do a lot more partying than studying. If you are a GPA risk and in the bars every night they are not going to be impressed.
