Numbers game. Most of these on the sororities could fill several pledge classes with legacies. Obviously, they have to cut pretty drastically in order to keep the best of her legacies and try and get the best of the type of girl they are looking for who aren't legacies. What would you do if you were trying to get from 1500 down to 100?

I got cut by my legacy house (considered top) and not going to lie, it hurt. Pretty badly I might add. Honestly I didn't act that interested in them because I was trying to make a bigger impact on another top house, but now I think I may have screwed my self :(

I am sorry, hurt, I know it's awful. Please remind yourself that it's a numbers game. There is hurt on the other side, I promise you. And Immean this most sincerely when I tell you there is not a bad house at Ole Miss. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on. All of you who still have houses for sisterhood are very lucky and I encourage you to look very hard at the houses still on your list – try and picture yourself there for every house.

Best wishes for the rest of rush and for bid day!

I would cut yourself some slack. Really. You may not have been on their list anyway. Those lists are made up well before rush. Honestly, there are a couple of chapters here in which the members don't even vote on PNMs. They give feedback, but their advisors and maybe a few leaders (such as president and rush chair) actually go through the girls and assemble a pledge class. The really hard thing is as a PNM you have much less power than you think at some houses. Hang in there and don't blame yourself.

I agree with the above comment. The same thing happened to me last year. I had been raised all my life to be a future xyz, even have the baby pictures with little xyz shirts. Was cut after Philanthropy round and I was crushed. I didn't really even want to continue and I certainly didn't want to break the news to my Mom. But then an amazing thing happened, I gave the remaining sororities on my list a better look and focused on the positive things about those houses. By preference I had two great choices and found my house. Being part of Greek Life was one of the best decisions I made.

I'm a double legacy and got cut from a rising house and it sucks because it was my favorite but with so many pnms it's bound to happen.

I know it is SO hard, but you have to understand that there are so many girls going through rush, a lot of wish have no in house connections, meaning that there is no one to pull for them and vouch for their reputation, personality, etc., therefore people slip through the cracks. Often, the girls in the sorority don't even know who is coming back until right before the rounds start. Actives top girls get cut every single year. It's already happened. There are tons of actives that are upset. You just have to brush yourself off and realize that it all works out in the end!! I know it just sucks in the meantime though..
