new houses?
by: HiSo Ole Miss is growing very quickly and it's been noted multiple times that the houses are already too big. The only solution is going to be to bring new sororities to Ole Miss. Which sororities would y'all like to see colonize in the next few years?

There was a lengthy thread on this earlier this year. As I recall the sorority most often mentioned was Alpha Chi Omega which has a top chapter at Alabama. Delta Zeta and Zeta Tau Alpha (both used to be here) were also mentioned.
I'd vote for Alpha Chi to come here next.

Our only viable options left of NPC sororities are Alpha Chi, AGD, Alpha Xi Delta, DZ, Gamma Phi Beta, Sigma Kappa, or Zeta. Out of these I think we've had Alpha Xi, DZ, and Zeta in the past - Zeta being the most recent - but no others. But for a new sorority to colonize here, they would have to be financially able to build a nice house to compete with our current houses within a few years like ADPi and APhi did. Without a house, the sorority won't survive. Also, they have to be nationally strong enough to have alumni to help the chapter. Smaller national sororities like Alpha Sigma Alpha, Theta Phi Alpha, etc. just don't have that national presence, but the 7 houses listed above do.
Personally, I think Alpha Chi and Zeta should come first, and then the rest if we still need more.

Zeta would be a natural fit, very strong in the south. AXO recently colonized at Arkansas and they are bottom - Phi Mu and DG are also new and they easily passed Alpha Chi. You have to have $7-$12 Million to build a competitive SEC style house and that weeds out a lot of groups. AGD is strong at Bama and colonizing at Arkansas in 2018.

I thought I heard somewhere that Zeta had presented about coming back to campus, but maybe I'm wrong? I'd also like to see AXO and Gamma Phi.
But before that, I think that we need to get all chapters up to total and all chapters making quota every year. Let's focus on strengthening our chapters here first. I know that's the point of variable quota. And I really thought it was a strong rush for everybody last year, and if you go back to last year's bid day posts, there was real excitement about how strong the pledge classes were. So fingers are crossed that it will continue to have a good impact on rush this year.

Bringing in a new group would not solve the problem. RFM has been used during sorority recruitment for a decade, with mixed results. Wise NPC groups are looking into how RFM has positively and negatively affected recruitment and their chapters nationwide.
I think a new NPC recruitment standard will be brought forth in the next 2-4 years. We have seen too many giant chapters and too many campuses where there is no land or housing available for the burgeoning growth the RFM sorority experience is causing. Changing more campuses from three max pref homes during recruitment to two is the newest norm NPC is attempting this Fall.
There is also the elephant in the room of NPC groups often having distinct personalities and sizes of membership and pocketbook. When one campus wants to expand but already has all the giant NPC sorority groups on its campus, it can become problematic to integrate that campus using a smaller, less financially capable NPC sorority.
NPC believes each of its groups have worth and dignity, and the right to exist under our united banner. But it is both a blessing and a burden that some NPC groups are very different from the others.

I would love to see Alpha Chi Omega colonize here!! They are very strong in the south. Delta Zeta would also do well in my opinion. I don't know where they would be able to fit another house though.
