chubby girls and iu sororitys
by: CurioysDo any of the top tier and upper middle tier sororities have women who are overweight? Or are those the women cut first round with grades? I haven't noticed any and it seems weird to me that organizations whose mission is to empower women would cut them so superficially. Please tell me I'm wrong.

I'm with you on that. I'm disappointed that the sororities on this campus are so shallow that looks are more important than character. Releasing women for their looks and body shapes is not something I would expect of organizations that promote women and have philanthropies based on eating disorders and self-image. Hypocritical.

Oh honey, don't be mistaken. None of the girls in the sorority with the eating disorder philanthropy has an eating disorder. It's obvious.

Let's all just thank God we aren't in such a superficial chapter. We know that looks can only take you so far. You have to have a brain and a good personality to go far in life. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but comments like the one from Mmmm makes me completely understand why everyone is always saying how terrible the top tier chapters are. I'm not overweight, I'm actually a size 2. But I would never want anyone to give me a bid simply for that. I know my personality means so much more than my appearance. Mmmm, you should focus on who's a good person and try to build every girl up. Not the other way around.

No need to be nasty here. I have noticed that everybody ends up where they belong. There are houses for those that care what everyone else looks like, and houses for those who want to make a difference in the world and empower others to do the same thing. Room for everyone!

you can care about what you look like and also want to make a difference in the world. no need to segregate houses based on that. i'm pretty sure every sorority at iu makes a difference in the world AND empowers other to do the same thing.

No matter what tier these posters came from, I am embarrassed for any outsider looking in to see how disrespectful woman are to one another at IU. There are beautiful woman inside and out at all chapters on our campus. Those needing to post negative comments on a public sight need to grow up.

I'm not talking size 16. I'm talking size 8. There are very few women who are not a size 0-4 in some sororities. That's genetics. Some people can't be a size 2 without an eating disorder.
