victory on appeal

by: Pnm

Appealing to nationals gave me the ability to rush. I look forward to reporting to all the nay Sayers that a sorority took me without the 2.8.

You've really proven you'll do anything to get away with your bad grades. You really must be proud!

Being able to rush does not equal getting a bid. Oh, let me guess - "Girls in the chapter told me they want me!" Yeah . . . I'm sure they'll all be fighting over the chance to pledge someone with subpar grades. I mean, it's not like chapters have higher g.p.a. requirements than panhellenic . . . Oh, wait . . .THEY DO!

Glad to see where your priorities at school are. You'll probably fail out of IU by next year

A 2.78 isn't a bad gpa. I learned that I need to put in more effort and have every intention of getting both grades and Greek life.

Panhellenic nationals granted your appeal?

They talked to IU panhellic and got my appeal overturned. You can't deny on gpa!

So does that mean everyone under 2.8 can now join recruitment? Because it's not fair if it's only this special snowflake

But will you report back to all the naysayers when this doesn't work out for you?
Not trying to be nasty. Do wish you luck. You seem really really confident. What makes you so certain you will succeed despite the GPA? A LOT of great pnms going through. What makes you so special?

I have been talking to a girl who said all I need is to get to rush. I feel there house will take me. The gpa requirement is a 2.8 and she said I was close enough and a good fit.

Have you spent time at this house already (dinners, group meetings for class) and met many other members besides the one? Are u a legacy? Just curious. Hope things work out for you.

My dear Special Snowflake, I feel like you are about to be in for more sadness.

To all active sisters. . . I hope whomever was telling Special Snowflake that she would get in a house knows what she was talking about.

I was told that their is away around everything. As long as I start the rush I would be able to get a bid or an after bid since houses are taking so many girls. It will be hard to fill the mid tier houses.

Your information is incorrect. The middle tier houses will fill to quota just like they do every year. Please do not believe you uninformed friend. I have the recruitment statistics from last year right here in front of me. The chapters that did not make quota are not middle tier: XO, Tri Delta, DPhiE. There are two additional chapters that did not match quota after bid matching but through snaps and COB made quota prior to bid night: Alpha Phi and Kappa. Due to RFM they only missed quota by less than 3 women, this means that statistically they were on the short end of the stick and they fixed it. Kudos to them. I hope that things work out for you, but you are going to have to be on your best behavior at each chapter and get the notion that you are too good for certain houses out of your head.

Dear Special Snowflake,

Please learn the difference between there, their, and they're.

Sincerely,
Everyone at IU with a GPA of > 2.78

You'll be able to rush but I doubt a housed sorority will give you a bid with a GPA like that.

Thanks for making it sounds like unhoused sororities have lesser standards. My "unhoused" sorority will not bid this girl and she will be cut round 1.

If this were true you wouldn't be broadcasting it on GR because it will be obvious who you are to sororities as soon as they look at the GPA list. If it is true, most of the sororities have released you already.

Every year, there is those few PNMs that think they are better than everyone and the system. It rarely works out.

Maybe with so many less girls rushing they made allowances. 1650 / not enough to fill quota?

A quota of 50 x 22 chapters =1100. That is still a lot of girls bid less. Most 1st round cuts are for grades. I'll be shocked if you have any options (maybe 1or 2 if u r lucky) come 16 party round
