Legacy status is NEVER a guarantee for most chapters unless you make it to pref round. Just because you make it to 14 party (or whatever it's going to be this year, 15) as a legacy does not mean the chapter is obligated to keep you around afterward. I've seen it happen to many girls. No one here has a nasty attitude except for that one "PNM" who claims she knows everything about IU recruitment.

Thank you......,
And to the "PNM" who keeps posting-- guess what-many of us ARE in the houses I suspect you might find desirable and your are so wrong on so many levels.....stop obsessing on recruitment and focus on school--that is after all, the reason you are coming to IU....

Doesn't mean much at IU. I think it matters more in the South. I was a legacy at 3 houses, but only got one of them back for Pref night (and ended up deciding to join a different one anyway). You should definitely put your legacy status on the forms when you register for rush, because it can help you out, but don't obsess over it. Lots of girls either don't get bids from their legacy houses, or they realize they don't want to join their legacy houses.

Over 800 girls who rushed either did not get bids, or dropped out in the middle of rush (check out the article that was just published in the NY times). Don't get hung up over your "dream house," because really if you make it into any house you are lucky and if you're a friendly person you can end up making friends anywhere.

To the idiot that said "most of us will be pledging a house" You're wrong. IU recruitment is extremely difficult and competitive. More girls that went through recruitment did not receive a bid than did. Obviously I'm not trying to scare you but you can't go in expecting to receive a bid.

Even in the South, legacy doesn't mean what it has in the past. I know !!! Having a good friend in a house can go further than a legacy if the friend has pull.

ALL of it matters. Take advantage of
Every little thing you have. If they like you, they will take a legacy first and sometimes the friend who is pulling for their friend
Loses out. Sometimes they
Both win. The friend has to have influence. If they don't like you, legacy status
Rarely helps. In the past, there was a lot of pressure to take legacies but since there are so many now it's not AS important.

Please stop responding to " PNM, ..... ,and stfu" they are most likely the same person, and she clearly is here to just cause trouble. Perhaps she has a sister in a house and that is why she sounds so arrogant about the process. In any case we do a disservice to sincere PNM's who come here looking for tidbits of info by giving her a forum to rant.
PNM's get your advice from another source. Greek chat has all kinds of threads.....

The person below sounds very suspicious to me. Why would someone be so concerned about what someone says here?
