snap bid question
by: pnm#1 by: snaps
Snap bids happen before bids go out at bid night. They can be offered by a house when they don't match to quota during bid matching in order to get them up to quota. There are not a lot of snap bids offered, so if you are fortunate to be offered one you should really consider it because that house wants you enough to give you a real second chance. Pnm's who get snap bids go to bid night and open their bids with everyone else, they just already know where they're going.
There is no such term as "quota bid". IDK where you heard that but it's not a thing.
Quota is set after pref when all pnm's have signed and turned in cards. The number of pnm's signing cards divided by the number of sorority chapters = quota, the maximum number of bids a house can offer. BUT, there is such a thing as quota plus - if a pnm doesn't make the cut off for quota during bid matching, quota plus will place her with one of those two houses even when it puts that house over quota. That is how every pnm is guaranteed a bid as long as she ranks both her pref houses. If you have two pref houses and only rank one you are not guaranteed a bid to that house. If you only have one pref house and put them on your card you will get that bid.
