Freshman Fall PNM’s Please Read

Coming out of state and not having many connections left me with a lot of uncertainty on what houses to rush. However, after being going through the process and finding my home, I can say without certainty that connects are almost everything when rushing most houses. Please read below for what houses to look out for when taking this information into consideration:

Don’t bother: Fiji, Sig chi
(They already have almost their entire PCs already picked out)

Competitive rush: Pi Kapps, ZBT, AEPi, Sammy, SAE, Phi Sig, Phi Delt. These houses you usually need connections to get a bid and will already have half of their PCs picked out before rush officially starts. Basically these houses use private pre-rush week events as their serious events to determine the bulk of their PCs and use rush week to pick out any remaining spots they have to fill.

Somewhat competitive rush: Theta Chi, Sig Ep, Phi Psi, Beta Sig, DU, Pike. For these houses, connections are helpful but it’s doable to get a bid without them. They will most likely have 5-10 bids given out before Rush but I would highly recommend checking these houses out for a more well rounded and fair rush experience.

Less competitive rush: ASig, Chi Phi, Lambda, SNu. These houses you don’t need connections to get a bid and will probably go into rush week with no delegated bids.

Unhoused, bottom frats (easy af): AKL, TEP, PiLam, KDR

At the end of the day, most of these houses will give you identical college experiences and you should go with the house that fits your best as a person instead of what “tier” they are in. It’s important to know that you should rush to find your lifelong friends instead of simply looking for houses that have “better” pairs and parties. Good luck y’all!
