How Pref Ranking Works (read this pnms)

PNMs!!! You have a lot of questions about quota and numbers and pref and blah blah blah!! I will try to help you since you refuse you ask your Rho gams!!!!!!!!
In the past IU has not adhered to national recruitment rules (just be happy you didn’t live through the horror that was bed rush) and it causes a lot of confusion about our recruitment process. We now follow ALL national NPC recruitment rules since last year’s recruitment including requiring all chapters being required to take quota additions.
THIS IS WHAT THAT MEANS: If a PNM ranks
1. ABC
2. XYZ
but she happens to not make it on either house’s top bid list after pref instead of being cut from recruitment entirely like she would have been in the past, that PNM will be matched with her top choice house. So the PNM in this example would receive a bid from ABC without ever knowing whether she was a quota addition or not.
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! What this means is you will 100% receive a bid from one of your two chapters if you write both of them down. You can only get cut entirely from recruitment at this point if you write down one of your two chapters instead of both(suiciding). YES, this also means that if you only have 1 chapter instead of 2 then congrats you’re getting a bid to that one chapter as long as you don’t go there and act like a lunatic.
Quota additions are considered a good thing because it means more women ranked that house higher after pref so the more QA’s you take the more desirable your chapter was. This process is done because in general no chapter should be inviting a woman to pref that they would not want to be on their bid list. I hope I helped you

Also I’ve seen some people asking about quota and saying it’s this # or that #. Quota is determined by the number of PNMs who participate in bid matching divided by our 22 chapters. PNMs may still drop after receiving their pref list or after going to their pref rounds instead of ranking for bid day & these women are not considered in quota. So this obviously means that there is no quota set yet for this year because PNMs haven’t submitted their ranks (or even gotten their lists) for their final 1 or 2 chapters.
Example of how this works: if 1200 pnms submit their final ranks and sign MRABA then quota will be 54 because 1200 pnms divided by 22 chapters = 54

I’ll be 100% honest with you the only girls I know who got both their top two from 9 to 2 were girls with serious connections. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen to you but many houses do make pretty significant cuts this round
