If ASA becomes the only unhoused chapter they will not survive...we all know what happened to the unhoused chapters in the 90s. I hope their nationals changes their mind and let’s them get one so they can stay.

This simply isn't true. There are women that go through recruitment and cannot afford to live in a house but still want sisterhood. ASA fulfills a need on the IU campus.

People can join chapters and not live in the house, I know plenty of people in my chapter who did that.

In some cases, now that we've done away with bed rush one new member class might not be able to live in one house all at one time.

And thinking about D.C. tax measures recently reformed/revised: the economics of being unhoused may help these groups gain new members.\n\n\n\n\n

You are talking about a fairly temporary situation with houses. Assume Phi Psi’s move back into their house next year. I would think ATO would probably come back in 19 or 20. Probably tridelt and DTD back in 21. Sigma Nu will probably come back in 22.

Phi Psi doesn’t have enough guys to move in next year. I think Sigma Kappa is staying

Sigma Kappa already has the Phi Psi house leased for next school year. They have a two year lease with the option to renew for a third, etc. The way Phi Psi is looking right now, they may get that third year.

I think ASA is going to strive now more than ever. Not only do PNMs join unhoused sororities because of the cost difference, they still value sisterhood and want to not live in a house together and have their own space. ASA is going to kill it this year. Their sisterhood is amazing. Don’t forget; four walls don’t define you.

I think ASA gained from this just as much as DphiE did. ASA now has zero competition for girls that want to go unhoused. And they already had no trouble with recruitment beforehand. Also ASA is gonna be in high demand for pairs with unhoused fraternities as DphiE and TPA begin pairing more with housed fraternities.
