Member retention is critical for all organizations. It reflects how successful the organization is and whether it's worth joining. People want to join organizations with large and stable memberships. A loyal and dependable membership is the best foundation to build on and speaks highly about your organization in general.

What you have posted are numbers. We don't know the circumstances that impacted the people who resigned their memberships. They might have transferred to a different college, parental financial situation changes, student paying for her own expenses loses her job, student needs to concentrate on grades, death/illness in the family, interning off campus/out of region and don't want to pay dues, the shine has dulled on their membership, etc. The point is we don't know.
