Sorority Recruitment
by: Pan Love
Most girls go into recruitment thinking they want to join a top tier chapter. The reality is that of the sororities here are really more similair than they are different. It’s normal to go in with favorites, we all do. Just make sure you have an open mind and are realistic. Top tier chapters are very competitive and drop many girls early on. You might be disappointed at first but remember you want to be a part of a chapter that wants you.
There are beautiful and amazing girls in all the tiers. All have socials and fun events. Make sure you choose a sorority for the right reasons or you may end up where you don’t fit in. Some girls pick a top chapter and find their home. Some pick a top chapter for status and end up feeling out of place so they drop. Some choose a mid chapter over a top because genuinely connect with the girls. Some choose a bottom and love it. Be true to yourself and follow your heart.
The most important things to consider are personalities and sisterhood. Don’t get hung up on tiers, every chapter has great things to offer. Your tier doesn’t matter in the long run, it's the relationships you make. Don’t stress, trust the process and have fun running home to your lifelong sisters.

Remember the ranks can change depending on how Fall recruitment goes. There are some girls in the top sororities that may be pretty, but are selfish and won't be there for you. Some of the bottom girls are honestly just as pretty, but are shy and don't go out as much. You really have to just listen to your heart when you're in each of the houses. Trust your instincts!

if you're a pnm reading this get off of greek rank right now. i had no idea greek rank existed before going through recruitment and im so glad i didn't. i went into recruitment having no hope since i was such a shy person before. first day i literally cried before going into my first house. at the end of the week the feeling of getting into my top choice sorority of the entire week made the heat, the anxiety, and the exhaustion of the week all worth it. later into my experience i learned of sorority ranks and the fact of the matter is it changes nothing. if you join a sorority based on their tier then i don't recommend you join a sorority because you're not gonna end up where you belong. not because you don't deserve to be in a top tier sorority but because you deserve to be in a sorority where you're connected with your sisters based on YOUR values.
