Go for it! You have 2 years to enjoy the sisterhood. Some sororities will announce COB on their IG. Follow the chapters you like, in case they are participating in COB this fall.

Agree! Sororities should take it as a compliment if someone rushes as a junior. You never know someone’s story. Maybe they didn’t think it was for them but observed the experience and thought “I want to be a part of that”. Maybe they have made friends through class with other sorority girls or maybe they felt they wanted the experience. Why look at it as a bad thing? Why not welcome juniors? Seems odd to exclude. After all, you may need them to “hire” you in a few years. Don’t be so limited in your thinking.

It’s probably better not to set your sights on top tier. A lot of them cut juniors or even sophomores. If you’re rushing as a junior, that probably means you feel like something is missing from your college experience. Joining a sorority is a good way to meet people and be more involved than you have been.

Continuous Open Bidding (COB) is a very informal process that sororities use to recruit new members. Unlike Formal Recruitment, a Potential New Member engaged in COB will not visit all of the sororities. When a sorority decides to offer COB, they simply contact Potential New Members on their own and hold a series of informal events to get to know her better. Registration on the part of the potential new member is not necessary either. All women are eligible to participate!
