Do letters of rec actually matter?

Sorry if this has already been posted. I'm rushing in Fall and don't really have access to anyone who would write me a letter of rec.

I know some older schools take them very seriously but i read that letter policy document that was put out for fall and it doesn't seem like it matters much here? Just wondering if not having one will hurt my chances greatly

Active member here, I’m sorry the person in the comments is harsh. Rec letters don’t matter here and not all orgs take them but ask your RG
