if you are in good academic standing and close to the required grade point average to rush is it worth it to rush or will you get dropped ?

I think if you are a grade risk it is easier in the spring. There are so many girls in the fall that a lot of houses will cut only on grades. I think you have more opportunity to explain why your grades are lower and why you think you will be able to balance Greek life and your academics.

easiest and first cuts are for GPA. Usually no wiggle room on GPA for any of the houses. "Close to" isn't good enough. You're competing with many, many girls who have outstanding GPAs. Sit out a year. Get great grades and make friends with as many sorority women as you can (they'll be in your classes). Otherwise your rush is not going to go well - in other words yes you'll get dropped.
