honest rankings and info. like tier positions, sisterhood, do you need rec letters, do they haze, been on probation, etc. Also at some schools you kind of have to be rich to fit in. Is it like that here. Especially in sororities? If you're not rich and can't afford expensive clothes do you stick out.

I think the most accepted rankings is Top: Pi phi/A phi, G phi, Kappa, DG, Middle: SK, Theta, ADPi, Chi O, AEPhi, Bottom: AXO, Tri Delt. As far as tiers go, some people will argue that Kappa & DG are upper middle, I would put them both top tier. I think after this fall they really separated themselves from middle tier. Same thing for AEPhi- some people will say they are bottom but, again, after this fall they really separated themselves from the bottom tier. As far as sisterhood goes, in all honesty I think that the only people that can answer on sisterhood are the girls that are in that house. Gphi was on probation for hazing. Again, they are the only ones who know the details. You can go on the school judicial website to see everyone who is on probation. It is public information. Nationals can also put a chapter on probation, but only the specific chapter will know about that. Some of the sororities definitely put more value on appearance. I have heard of weight restrictions and mandatory gym time but it is not true in my house and I don't know what goes on in the other houses. As far as the money piece goes, there are girls from all socioeconomic backgrounds in all houses. I will say that in some of the houses there is an "air of sophistication" that made me uncomfortable when I went through rush. Not that you won't get a house, but I think rush is definitely different for Cali/Arizona girls then it is for out of state girls from other states.

This is an honest ranking IMO, so often girls want to make like half of the houses at the U of A bottom houses but you did a good job of sticking to the 3 tiers

I'm in a middle tier house and everyone here fits in. Everyone has a place. I work hard, I pay my own dues, but there are others you don't mind dropping $400 in a weekend. Everything that the woman above me said is spot on. Don't worry about fitting in, you'll find your place.

In regards to rec letters, think of them as an introduction. They can't hurt but you can go through without also. And they aren't an automatic invite back. My philosophy is do everything you can to help find the best house for you and if you know someone who will give you a rec, have them do it.
