legacy and recs

How far will being a legacy get you during recruitment? What about having several recs?

Usually legacy will get you past 1st round, after that you really need to show your personality and prove yourself to be a sister. If you aren't going to fit into a house you wouldn't want to stay in it anyway just because you're a legacy, you would be miserable. As for Letters of Recommendation, some houses take them a lot more seriously than other houses. Again it depends on if you are going to fit into the house.

Do you know which houses take them seriously? I know I can get recs for kappa, pi phi, dg, theta, sk, and adpi

Recs are different from legacies. Recs can be written by any member about any PNM and are basically information forms. Honestly, so many people have them that the only thing they do is give the house a heads up about you before recruitment which may make you more memorable and easy to talk to during the first parties so you may get to come to the nest round. Legacies are relatives of members (usually sister, mother and sometimes grandmother) and those almost always get an automatic invite to second round.

Recs and legacy status get you to the second round.

If you're a legacy and make it to pref, there's a very good chance you're on the bid list. That's the way most sororities policies are.

Recs are in no way a guarantee for a second round invite. Some house get so many that they'd have to invite back more PNMs than they're allowed.
