Honestly, don't rush if its not in your budget. It's not fair to the girls who rush and actually can afford it. This isn't meant to be rude, it's just heartbreaking when girls have to drop when they can't afford it. Some girl is going to take you as her little. She's going to craft you a whole bunch of stuff and spend so much money on you. She'll love you like a little sister. And then you'll have to drop and she'll be without a little and devastated. I see this happen all the time because girls think "Oh I'll just rush and if it's too expensive I'll drop." But it affects more than just you. You're taking a spot of someone else who could potentially afford to stay in the house all 4 years.
