asa coming to campus
by: pan
Now that ASA is officially joining panhellenic at U of A, what do you think this means for other sororities on campus? Obviously new sororities don't have much of an effect on top houses, but what about the bottom? Will this be good for houses like Tri delt and AXO? Or will it take potential members away from them.
For anyone that wasn't around when AXO recolonized a few years ago, it destroyed tri delt. All the girls that would have gotten bids to tri delt chose to try their luck with a colony because it gave them a chance to build something rather than join a house with a poor rep.
What do you think? Discuss.

AXO had a pretty strong recruitment when they came on, they were able to get like 250 girls to sign up initially. A lot dropped but the prospect of getting their house back probably helped a lot. I could see ASA taking the tan building by PhiDelt and the Softball stadium, that used to be a fraternity/sorority house.

It would have made more sense if it were a sorority like DZ who is strong as ASU but nonexistent at UA. One of the reasons AXO recruited a decent colony was because they brought down their eye candy from tempe to rush during set 1. And yes, they knew they'd be getting their house back the following year.
The closest collegiate chapter of ASA is UT El Paso.... I'm guessing that's not a large chapter.
They do have an alumnae chapter in Phoenix but that's not exactly surprising because Phoenix has a lot of transplants from all over.
Their only hope is that their alumnae chapter provides them the support they need. Otherwise we may witness a failed colonization which might be pretty interesting because that hardly ever happens. But then again most sororities aren't this stupid lmao
I honestly can't wait to watch this go down.

Anyone here heard of ZTA trying to come back? Ive heard from someone that they dropped a couple million dollars for the University to find them land and build them a house or buy someone house if they get kicked out but the problem is they cant find any land for them nor has anyone been kicked out.

NPC sororities work together for the well-being and betterment of women within all their groups. No one group is considered the absolute most perfect and best. Each group provides services, values, standards and experiences that women of every age can use and proudly promote when recruiting new members.
Truth be told, no other NPC group will even consider coming to AZ. That's why it took so long for an NPC to show interest in the first place. There are the great AZ greek housing issues and giant new member classes to consider.
Campuses with AZ's greek-life size and character are now having to accept smaller and less well-known sororities, with Auburn, Missouri and Indiana Universities as example. So get used to it, because interest in belonging to a sorority here remains high and it doesn't matter which NPC group provides the service of an emerging chapter. ASA has been properly chosen and deserves the chance to grow and develop.

Did anyone posting here attend the Alpha Sigs expansion presentation, or sit-in on the negotiations between them and campus officials? Can anyone here legitimately enlighten us as to ASA's intentions when they colonize? Are they asking to come-on as an intentionally smaller group, and/or one without housing?
Did anyone here previously contact the "higher and better" sororities and beg them to colonize here? I believe someone else posted the truth that NO OTHER CURRENT NPC WHO IS NOT ALREADY HERE wants to come onto campus and colonize.
There is a greek history at Arizona that smacks of the very same poor attitude shown here to a group who is not yet a colony, but has merely been invited. You may not be old enough to know of it, but the NPC groups who will not come here know of it and it is why they will not colonize.
So please allow the ASA colony to grow and thrive at its own pace without the BS attitudes and smack-downs shown by ignorant students on this website. Your Arizona greek life can only benefit from more mature actions and attitudes.

Just checked and apparently this is the FIRST ASA chapter in the PAC 12. Wut. Why would they pick Arizona? Did they do any research on the greek life culture? We have a cut throat greek life. They'll never last. Shame.
