theta and transfers

by: Very unhappy NM

Does Theta accept transfers for affiliation? I am not going to ask family or friends that are actives/alumnae in PKT at UT because apparently they give awful advice, so I'm coming to ask here. Most of yall probably already know my story, and I talked to an amazing Texas Theta last night. Given my situation at UA, I think I'm going to stay until initiation and then transfer back to UT for the Spring. Does it matter that Theta is bottom tier at UA? They're all socially awkward and weird so I don't fit in there at all. I know I would fit in with the Thetas here. Please help!

I apologized on Bama's page. Please don't hold this against me!

Please don't use such vulgar language to attack this pledge-- she said people seemed awkward and weird to her. That isn't a reason to call her vulgar names and to stoop to her level (or below her level). Have some perspective-- she didn't like a sorority she pledged. So what? It isn't a big deal in the scheme of things. It barely is even a deal at all.

It depends on what you mean by "gets." Not being in the sorority or being rejected socially by them, sure-- I think that she deserves that because she just wasn't nice to them. It might be cool to not kick her out and to try to integrate her into things but it would be understandable not to! I was just arguing against going overboard and really getting vindictive toward her, which seemed to be the way everyone was reacting. It was starting to read like people were going to burn her apartment down or something and it made me feel scared a crime was getting ready to be committed.

PS there is nothing wrong with being an old lady :) You will be one someday.

I'd like to apologize on behalf of those that found the 'old lady' comment offensive. Your thoughts and insight are welcome here always.

"...scared a crime was getting ready to be committed"??? You are the only one overreacting.

Even if they actually let you in, nothing gonna help you here. my guess is they just getting ducks in a row and letting things die down before letting you go quietly into the night. Good luck.

Yes, we vote to accept affiliations or not.
Yes, I know your name in "real life"
No, you will never, ever, ever be an Alpha Theta.

Theta voted several conventions ago that all sisters could transfer from one chapter to another with NO vote by the chapter to accept the transferring sister.

Well, we will see about that!!! I'm still a NM of Theta, and plan on staying until Initiation and then making my decision. I'll probably transfer to UT, and if I do, you'll HAVE to welcome me with open arms! Also, I was admitted to UT...I chose UA bc of the awesome scholarship and I wanted to meet new people but still have the ultimate Greek experience. I didn't think things would work out this way. I'll be a happy Theta at UT in no time unless some kind of miracle occurs and Bama Theta proves themselves not to be socially awkward and weird. TLAM ;)

There are ways around this. It is not iron clad. Special circumstances can waive any affiliation requirement. If this isn't a special circumstance, I don't know what is. So don't fret. We have options. Even if held over for initiation, this toad will never be an Alpha Theta.

You claimed your family had so much money that you would definitely be admitted as a transfer to UT (wink, wink) yet you came to Bama on a scholarship. So which one is it Very unhappy NM?

accept an academic scholarship, regardless of how much money her family does or does not have? Maybe they HAVE money because they are not stupid (like the above post?).

Because she says she wants to be a Theta at UT....although in her OP she said she wanted to escape TX so who knows. Hard to keep up with all the troll's stories.

See new post about how suspiciously stupid OP was/is, along with the whine-y PNM mother who did everything but post her daughter's photo on here. Maybe we're all being duped.

Yall, apparently the Bama Theta NM hasn't been dropped yet because they were given the wrong initials. I feel terrible for the girl with the wrong ones!! Many of us here know her in real life and are pretty much 100% sure who she is, and we have referred to her as "R" or "rn" throughout this thread. I posted on Bama's page to let them know, but i just wanted other Thetas/other sorority members who know who this girl is to corroborate that. I'm not trying to stir up drama-it's just for the sake of the Thetas at Bama and for the sake of all of their NMs (and our organization). Thanks!!
