UT Fall Rush 2024

by: rush2024

Does sorority rush look like it will be extremely competitive and cutthroat this year? Particularly for people that are not well-connected.

Depends what you want- Pi phi kappa and chi o are hardest invites to get (most exclusive and impossible to get bid without an insider pulling for you as don't care about size of pledge class) but the rest are fairly open and like as big a group as possible- benefits on both sides. Rush is easier with contacts though so use what you have.

Not impossible. chi o took a bunch of girls last year, huge percentage of mean girls, not classy at all, social climbing isn’t working. Pi phi, we are all aware of the snap bids, stop pretending that didn’t happen. Kappa had a decent rush, but basically all the same (yawn) girl. Zeta is basically a dance team that likes to party, cool smart girls though. What happened tri delta? Hope yall do a better job 2024.

Snap bids are never posted anywhere. You are confused about COB.

Not any more than any other year. If there are more pnm's going through rush and staying in the process there will be more bids; there's not a set number. If you are not well-connected it doesn't mean you won't get a bid from a sorority. All of the sororities here are good and offer a similar experience.

Anybody on this thread talking about size of new member classes being the chapters' choice, or even "curated" for gods sake, is not in a sorority. New member class size is completely dictated by Quota, not by individual chapters choosing to take a smaller or larger amount of pnm's. There is so much ridiculously wrong "advice" on this terrible site.

100% wrong- you do not have to extend bids to reach a suggested number- guess the exclusive ones cut her

Sororities that don't take quota aren't exclusive, they are struggling and undesired. Ask the ones that have had to snap bid.

Really? Because 8 houses gave snaps in spring according to dean’s page and Kappa, Pi Phi, Chi O and Zeta weren’t listed

Think you can drop the snap narrative Theta - pot meet kettle

I’ll go ask a theta since they have snap experience
Should I ask a committee member? Did they give even more snaps once mom threatened lawsuit to keep her kitty out of her own dirty litter?

No such thing as a snap in the spring. You are too stupid to troll.

Time to get involved
If you receive a snap bid you are no less a member than anyone else and snap bids were put in process so hopefully girls would not be cross cut and leave empty handed - sororities do not have to extend but sometimes do- mistakes happen and great girls can fall through the cracks. It happens and every single UT sorority house has extended them at some point since its inception. Snaps are not documented for release so all talk of them are rumors and apparently malicious by insecure girls.

COB (continuous open bidding) can happen all year for Greek houses that want to extend a membership invitation for someone if they have room in their chapter house.

Period. We should all be happy that girls can find their Greek home if they want to.

The most desired or "best" houses are required to make disproportionately heavy cuts in the first rounds to give the weak houses a chance at getting girls who otherwise would not consider them and who frankly are better fits in the houses that had to drop them because of RFM.

After being forced to make such heavy cuts in the early rounds, it's not unusual for top houses to have a few unfilled spots when all of the top PNMs they were going after have been distributed between them.

Many of the girls who top houses had to release early due to RFM don't fit in with the bottom tier sororities and they know it. They drop rather than joining one of the lower tier sororities RFM is trying to farm them into.

These are the girls who get snap bids. They are girls the top houses liked in the first place but had to cut due to RFM because they were allowed fewer invitations. They're not girls who were dropped by lower tier houses but girls who dropped out rather than joining lower tier houses where they knew they didn't fit in.

But Quota is the same for everyone and every sorority takes quota, that's why there are Snap Bids. And snap bids are not the same as COB. Anyone talking about any sorority not taking a quota sized pledge class, or talking about snap bids in spring, has no idea what they are talking about.

When the top houses have to make huge cuts early on, they end up having to release girls who would have been good fits.

Meanwhile, girls who don't fit in there and know it rank "weaker" houses above them and match there.

This can result in the top houses technically not making quota because girls who would have ranked them #1 at the end were cut in rounds one and two in an attempt to steer them towards weaker houses that traditionally are severely under quota or under chapter total. When those girls drop out of recruitment after realizing their pref invites are for bottom tier houses they have no interest in joining, they're eligible for snap bids.

The top houses that cut them round one can and do pick them up with a snap bid to fill out the pledge class and hit quota. This is a separate process from COB and it happens before bids are distributed on bid day.
