totally cut?

Rush is brutal for everyone is the thing. Literally everyone gets some cuts so try not to take it too personally. Not many girls get cut everywhere, but many, many do get cut from big six and that causes so many to drop out. It is crazy. Just don’t get sucked into it and don’t quit because big six chapters drop you-at least see if you will like the others. Most girls will if they give them a chance.

Agree^^!!! Rush is hard for pretty much everyone. It is totally a numbers game so try to not take it personally if you get cut from a house you loved. As long as you are yourself and make the most of your options, you will end up in the house you are supposed to be in!

Honestly, not that many girls get totally cut. Those who do are usually horrible grade risks (rare for freshman bc it’s so hard to get into UT but more possible for upperclassmen) or of “questionable reputation”.

What happens a lot is that girls get dropped by the houses they had their hearts set on (usually Big 6 or 6 + 1-3 others they deem “acceptable”) and so they drop out and lie about being totally cut from everywhere.

Less common but still happens sometimes is when you make it far enough along in the week that you’ve been only asked to return to top tier/ competitive houses for sisterhood and they all drop you the morning of Pref. That almost happened to my freshman roommate- a “perfect” rush (meaning all of her top choices had asked her back every round) until Pref when she had only 1 invitation and everyone else released her. But she got a bid...it only takes 1 house!!
