do fraternities or sororities run ut greek scene?

Some future Longhorns here were having this conversation yesterday over some beers (yes we're high school seniors and my parents allow us to drink as long as we don't leave the house) and I'm curious what actual Longhorns have to say about it.

I personally think the guys pretty much control the greek scene b/c their parties are the most visible and sororities recruit girls based on their favorite fraternities' taste in women. Also most frats have no problem finding girls to be their sweethearts. Sororities don't have that male equivalent and will have a very hard time finding a decent looking STRAIGHT guy who's willing to be their "human mascot" to parade around campus without a promise to get laid as payments.

But of course they were some dissenters that were saying sororities are the face of greek life on campus b/c they're way larger in number. Also they make frat guys do way more crazy things to impress them ... most girls love badass guys and they know it.
