what happens at rush?

Maybe I’m a little behind but what even happens during rush? Like what’s the difference between welcome week and rush? When does rush end? Is it just partying with a bunch of dudes?

Welcome week is just partying but it’s a really good time to meet brothers and see which frats you may or may not like. Official rush is completely different and actually starts a couple weeks after classes begin. It consists of open houses where you go to the frat house and talk to brothers sober, as well as invite only events where the frats invite you to participate in a wide variety of “activities”. These can range from pregames, pong tourneys, sporting events, brotherhood events, unsanctioned mixers, and of course, your bid night. This official rush period takes place over one month.

How many frats can you rush? And is the only way you find out who you want to rush by going to welcome week parties?
