Very competitive to get bids even in a mid tier house. Also, all the other posts are saying that the only downside to greek life at uofm is that the houses are really old, and tbh its true. They're crumbling, don't have ac, there's vines overtaking them, etc. Lots of out of state kids too, and the top houses have a very unique culture here compared to other schools.

Greek life at uofm seems to be very different than at other universities in the USA. There are lots and lots of fraternities and sororities, and because of that, they each have less members than what you'd expect. The parties are insane, and the events that everyone in greek life attends (winter fest, greek week, mud bowl) are always a blast. The downside is that the houses are literally a billion years old. They look like they were built when slaves were still legal.

Very involved and party heavy scene. It’s a rigorous academic school so u don’t get many of the stereotypical hot dumb people. Smarter students = slightly less attractive people. The hazing across fraternities is pretty intense. The rush process is extremely competitive with almost no one getting their first choice.

they good, not great

The houses at UofM are beautiful, classic old mansions. Trying to get a bid from a top house is very very competitive, and selective. Lots of out of state kids in greek life, and greek life at UofM is by far, probably one of the wealthier greek life systems in the country. Lots of partying, and lots of philanthropy. Lots of hazing too, and as seen with Zeta, Theta, and Zeta Psi, the university does not take that behavior lightly. Definitely one of the top ten greek systems in the country. A bottom house here is equivalent to a top house at most of the other universities in the USA, to put it in perspective.

UMich Greek life sucks

The sororities are massive. Frats haze a lot, but it's going in a more "moral" direction.... Great parties.

This is in comparison to other schools in Michigan

my experience with rush was so degrading, how can someone decide not to like you after five mins of conversation with you? its all based on looks and wealth but what else is new
