What sets aside Phi Psi from Pi Kapp or even Sigma Chi. They haven't won Pikus, mix with a grimy sorority, and are pretty grimy themselves. I think guys see the rankings much differently from girls because all my friends would rather party with Pi Kapp/Sigma Chi over Phi Psi.

A lot of girls posting on here are mostly just posting what their favorite fraternity is and saying its top and the ones they don't like aren't top. I'll point out a few reasons to help clear the confusion. Phi Psi has been more competitive with Pike and Sig Ep in the past which is why other guys think more highly of them. The reason I said fringe top tier - they could do better if they wanted to but they choose instead to be grimy and not care (like you said). Sigma Chi and Pi Kapp are both very easy to get bids to, and their rush/pledging processes are weird/boring. You and your friends might personally like them but that doesn't change their campus-wide reputation and competitiveness which is really what these rankings are about.

Couldn't be more wrong across the board

Pi kapp WAS middle tier but their pc this year I know has impressed every girl on campus. Granted, Pike's sucks and they still are top. It'll take another year of pi kapp doing well for them to really be top tier, but they are way closer to it than phi psi.

This is a pretty flawed argument. I think Response is trying to say Phi Psi can recruit better guys because they're more competitive and that fraternities shouldn't be judged based of what girls think of them. That being said, guys are going to rush the fraternities that girls party at so the greatness of a fraternity can definitely be judged based off whether or not girls 'like it'. This year, from an objective stand point, it seems girls are gravitating away from Pike (especially freshmen) and moving towards Sig Ep, Phi Psi, and Pi Kapp. I'd say those are the fraternities that will become or are top tier as of this now.

Flaw, you're not considering a fraternity's selectivity or how they run their rush processes at all. Guys are definitely attracted to the frats that pull girls but they also want to be in the ones they think are the right fit or the ones they think are the coolest. Its about what guys they want to be friends with. Pike, Sig Ep, Phi Psi, AEPi, Pi kapp and Sigma chi all have tons of hot girls that party with them so thats why I think you're overrating that. Pike could lose a ton of their groupies and still have enough left over to fake it that they're more popular than they actually are with girls at rush. It is a factor, but if you rushed multiple top fraternities, you would probably have a clue what I'm talking about. They all rush differently and that attracts different types of people. Then you have to consider that some fraternities are not as selective as others and weird brothers turns guys away at rush.

I rushed all the top fraternities. They all seemed about the same. You can take any guy from any fraternity and there will be one just like him in another. Granted, I didn't end up joining greek life, but I think it's pretty ridiculous that people try to distinguish between some of the top fraternities.. they're pretty similar in reality.

That is your opinion. The fact that you were mainly looking at which frats attracted the most girls could explain why you just aren't quite getting what a fraternity is really about. If you were being heavily recruited (which it doesn't appear you were) you would really start to see some of the differences by interview night. If you joined and had any friends pledging some of the other fraternities, you would also start to get what the differences are. Sigma Chi/Pi Kapps rush/pledge process are not at all similar to Pike or Sig Ep.

Pike is the only top fraternity that is falling (unless you count AEPi as a top house which I don't anymore). Pi Kapp will start to get a lot of the Campus leader/Colonial Cabinet type guys Pike used to recruit and will benefit. Phi Psi is holding steady but I don't really see them improving. Sig Ep probably benefitted the most out of anyone from Pike's fall and will likely be top house next year with Pike Phi Psi and Pi Kapp at lower top.
