Tiers are stupid. If you want to be a part of Greek life do it! But if you are only looking for social status, please don't.

There's no way, as sad as it is, they'll most likely scrape the bottom of the barrel to meet quota.

That is so not true! over 300 girls dropped out because they didn't like the sororities that exist. KD is a great sorority nationally.

In a short answer....no. They will not be competitive socially until they have a house on campus.

KD should just scrap the whole idea. Our pledge classes are really small under 40. That's so doable. If classes were 65 or 70 I could see adding another chapter.

Purdue has no business expanding with quotas of 35.

they are being added because the pledge classes are so small. It gives more girls the opportunity to join a house

Pledge classes would be bigger if more girls started and stuck through recruitment.

I don't think like 400 girls dropped recruitment

974 registered and quota was 36. 36x17 sororities=612, so that's 362 women that dropped or didn't get a bid, although in all fairness over 100 didn't show from the get-to.

Well a lot of girls who dropped only got 4 or less houses back that they didn't like from day 2. So obviously there should be more options like KD for the girls that obviously wanted to be in a house but felt they had no option but to drop.

No there were 4 other options other than to drop. Doesn't sound like you understand the panhellenic mission at all.

None of this matters. KD will not be going anywhere until they get their own house. AOPi has been around for 4 years now and they're still not expected to leave the bottom until they get a house.

aoii will have their brand new house next year.

Doubt aopi will have a house next year. There haven't even began yet and there is still a house on their property they are building on.

I actually went back the next day and only got 2 after the four and sorry that I personally couldn't see myself being genuine friends with any of the girls I met. I didn't drop because of social status or obviously I wouldn't be considering KD. If I didn't feel like I could be friends with anyone in those two houses why Should I have stayed when I knew I didn't click with any of those people!

But you're about to join a chapter where you have zero idea who any of these girls are and whether or not you'd be compatible with them, so I'm not buying the "I didn't drop because of social status" reason.

All of the threads asking about the possibility of KD becoming top within the next couple of years are being asked by those who want to join. Most of them are people who rushed , got cut early, then all of a sudden "didn't like their remaining options" and dropped. They feel that they're entitled to be apart of a great house and they're hoping that by joining KD they'll get that popularity that they want. The exact same thing happened when AOPi came on campus.

You all know deep down that's the real reason why you want to join so save us with these excuses. There's nothing wrong with wanting your chapter to be great, just be realistic and realize that it won't happen overnight.

That's really mean. The feeling of rejection from recruitment can be devastating. If you didn't experience it, good for you, but you should try to be a little more empathetic.

I wish you the best of luck with KD if you choose to check them out. Don't let people scare you. KD won't drop you because you dropped recruitment. You will need thick skin to be a part of an expansion sorority though. There is often initial hate until you get established. On the other hand though you can play a major role in creating your sorority :) I truly hope you find what you are looking for!
