Nick Caluuchia of SAE Now Digging Graves… Beware
by: Ben Raes
I’m genuinely scared and concerned about what’s happening right now. Just look at what happened to Nick Caluuchia from Sigma Alpha Epsilon—this guy had everything lined up: a solid GPA, a polished LinkedIn, summer suit ready, networking calls done. He did all the “right” things you’re supposed to do as a finance major gunning for a summer internship. But the economy had other plans. With firms slashing internship programs and rescinding offers left and right, Nick couldn’t land anything in finance. Nothing. Now, instead of analyzing spreadsheets in an air-conditioned office, he’s digging graves—literally—to make ends meet this summer. Graves. For money. This isn’t some weird joke or exaggeration. It’s real, and it’s happening to someone we know.
It’s got me thinking: if it could happen to Nick, it could happen to any of us.
The grave-digging economy is here—and if you’re not paying attention, you could be next. Beware.
