What do the group numbers on campus director mean?

So im a pnm and we're going to collect our stuff today based on our group number. how are these group numbers chosen? Are they random? do they put similar people in a group together? do the attractive people get to be in one group?

hi there! don’t worry about group numbers they’re completely randomized!!! also your PNM number (if they still have those this year) is literally what number you are when signing up
