sophomore informal rush

I'm transferring to U of I in the spring and I'll be a second semester sophomore. I want to join a sorority but I really wanna know it's the right fit for both myself as well as the sorority. I don't want to wait until jr year to rush, so I was thinking informal is a good idea for me. Will I have a chance of getting a bid from a variety of houses in different tiers?
