I'm way out of state (New England). Is this like Southern schools, where I'll probably immediately be cut from several sororities? Does it make any difference whatsoever?

If anything, being out of state can be an advantage because it's unique and you won't know people in many of the houses to bias your opinion of those houses.

Out of State is not a negative at all, if anything it is positive because it adds an interesting characterstic. However, because you will not know as many people make sure to be outgoing and friendly. You will do perfectly fine!
