sorority recruitment guidelines

by: Hope this helps❤️

- Recs: Get them if you can. Recs show houses that you're serious and knowledgable about sorority life, 2 per house is recommended.
- Dress code: Formal. Stop acting like you can't find a nice, cute, and modest dress. You're not here to find a boyfriend, you're here to meet highly respected houses. No rompers, no visible undies (bras/bralettes), no off the shoulder dresses, no spaghetti straps.
- Convos: No controversial conversations. The 5 B's are off limits (boys, booze, Bush, bucks, beliefs).
- Grades: 2.5 is the recommended GPA from Panhellenic. But all houses want to see something significantly higher.
- Cuts: Houses drop you, you don't drop them. Be humble, be nice, and be ready. Expect the worst but hope for the best.
- Cuts: Virtually every girl who wants a bid gets one. The amount of girls who get released from rush is minuscule so stop worrying.
- Stolen Bids: If you know you can't afford sorority life then don't rush. If you're not interested in Greek life then don't rush. When you rush knowing you're not going to pledge, you're taking a bid away from a deserving girl.
- Where to Pledge: All houses provide the same exact social, academic, and leadership opportunities. Pledge a house for the sisterhood.

- Above all Else: All the houses are great. Ranks don't mean anything in real life. Period

There's a time and place for everything. Save the tight short dresses and rompers for the club. Keep it classy.

Ok you're putting words in my mouth. Although I see ur point, all I'm trying to say is if a girl wants to show up dressed ready for sixth street on open house.... she's doing US a solid. Would much rather a girl be her authentic self from the start, that way we're not potentionally extending a bid to someone who laid out a false impression of who they truly are. It's phony and only hurts your house when girls "act" a certain way to benefit their recruitment experience. Literally anyone can pretend. Also coming from someone in a top house (one often considered homely), I wore both spaghetti straps/ now sisters wore rompers and here I sit comfortably. It's possible to be "classy" in whatever makes you most confident.

Although you do make some good points, I still don't think it's right to tell a girl it's okay to wear whatever she wants to recruitment when we all know it's not. Some girls genuinely do not know what Is appropriate and inappropriate to wear to recruitment. It's our job to tell them recruitment needs to be taken seriously and professionally. If they still decide to come dressed in sixth st attire even after they were told multiple times what's expected out of them, then it's our right to cut them day 1. We're not trying to set these girls up for failure? Recruitment is hard enough as it is. A poor outfit choice shouldn't have to prevent any girl from getting a bid from a sorority she would have fit in with otherwise.

Some sororities have national rules that require the chapter to have a rec for each new member before she can be pledged. Just get your recs!

You've got to be kidding me. What's funny is that both rompers and spaghetti straps were shown on this years Panhellenic "what to wear for recruitment" blog & it also said wear whatever YOU feel comfortable in, not what others say is right or wrong lmao. Quit giving pnms bad advice Gamma Phi

Ok I'm in gamma phi and we have standards too? If you come in looking like you're going to 6th on a Saturday night we will not feel bad for cutting you. You need to show respect to the sorority women and yourself.

Ignore the "think business casual" on day three! Wear a cute shirt or dress.
