Say all you guys want, you're still not a fraternity but a bunch of failures in the Greek system.

How can someone fail if there still starting up?That doesn't make and sense and I don't like how yall are using "We" and "Greek Community". I don't like when people try to show off on the internet of their knowledge on their make believe idea of the correct idealistic vision of a fraternity and values. This is down right pathetic, to bash an organization that isn't ifc yet. Grown up and let them try to suceed.

We're not letting them on IFC, ever. No locals are going to be permitted because they're less regulated without a national and don't follow FIPG rules or carry the same kind of insurance we have to. They're a danger to themselves and everyone they come into contact with, and we'll get blamed for them if they're in IFC or not. The least we can do is not actually be responsible for them. I think a lot of us would like to head this thing off at the pass and see them affiliate with an existing national rather than continue a current path that is harmful to all of us.

So did any y'all contact this organization at all? or y'all just going by the made up thoughts in your heads? I believe it i would be better if y'all possibly sent them advise or something in stead of belittling them by saying they're failures.

Not even affiliated with the IFC, therefore proving that they are a bunch of stupid GDI's.

UT is probably the best in Texas, which isn't saying much nationally. Greek life here isn't nearly as strong here as it is elsewhere in the south. But, UT clearly is much better than Texas State and always will be. They'll always be the flagship university with hundred year old chapters and able to charge 4-5 times the dues rates we can because lots of rich kids go there and would never come here. That still doesn't make them Alabama, Auburn, Miss, etc. And they never will be because they don't have the small state power structure that maintains tradition in the south more effectively than it does in a place like Texas where things change more rapidly.

All the examples I gave are real world incidents that happened in the last year. I guarantee you not all chapters there are recognized by the school & several are outside IFC. The Greek life office there is a joke because when anything important happens the real decisions are made between donors, lawyers, and senior administrators. Which is probably how it should be, but it doesn't make them a strong system. There are some strong chapters there, and some really terrible ones, but the community as a whole is not near the top nationally.

School crackdowns are always for show. They keep stuff off TV, they don't change behavior. They drive it underground where it's less regulated and more dangerous.

Guarantee you all chapters are recognized by the school, look at the UT website for Greek life. There are no unrecognized chapters. The strippers thing is not that big a deal, and pretty much every incident you mentioned was the KA/Omicron chapter that got in trouble.

For the strength of UT's chapters, Texas State has maybe 4 or 5 chapters that can compete with UTs mid or lower mid tiers, so there's no room to call their chapters terrible,

Can assure you the crackdown was not for show, the severity of hazing has vastly decreased since about 2006z

Texas State will never compete with UT. They are a flagship school admitting vastly more high quality students in every sense of the word. We will never be able to charge anything close to the dues they do and it will always be significantly harder to reach the same quality standards here. That's the different between a tier 1 flagship and a tier 2-3 school, especially one in the geographic shadow of a flagship and with plenty other distractions that make Greek life less appealing to lots of students than if we were in some more isolated area. None of that means UT is a top system nationally by comparison to places like bama or ole miss. It's not. That's the nature of Greek life in Texas and always will be. We're still a lot better than the north or west.

The Greek system at Texas State is pretty darn good for what we have to work with. It'll get better in the next 50 years, but it'll always be second class. No one comes to this school thinking it's going to be anything but that. However, we absolutely do a lot more for the school than the UT system or many other campuses. This is a very active system with some exceptional leaders. We can get better, but that's a two way street. The point of fraternities is not supporting the school. That's more of a quid pro quo thing than part of the mission. The school has started talking more supportive in the last few months after being at war with us for 20 years. As long as that continues things will improve in the relationship.

Still is top nationally. No UT is by no means number one, but there are really only a relatively small number of schools ahead. No UT isn't Bama, Ole Miss, Georgia, or USC, but it's comparable to SEC schools like LSU or Florida, and ahead of some of the worse SEC schools. Yeah, there are other schools ahead by all means, but they're still tier one as far as Greek life goes nationally, along with SMU and maybe Tech and TCU in Texas.

Do respect how far Texas State has come, it is definitely near the top of the second pile as far as Texas Schools go though, and there are definitely good chapters. Easily a better Greek school than the vast majority of Texas schools.
